One of the most successful ranchera singers, Yolanda del Río was born in Pachuca, Hidalgo. Del Río began singing as a child, and performed on radio and at festivals.
She made her television debut before she became a teenager, and debuted for RCA Victor after auditioning for A&R director Felipe "El Indio" Jiménez. Within a year, her single "La Hija de Nadie" sold over a million copies and made her a star. She quickly moved her touring base beyond Mexico to the United States, the rest of Central America, and even Europe.
The hits kept coming, including "Se Me Olvidó Otra Vez," "Tus Maletas en la Puerta," "Llorar, Llorar, Llorar," and "Camas Separadas." Del Río has sold over 20 million records around the world.
By 1977, she'd made the transition to the film world with the successful movie La Hija de Nadie, plus several follow-ups. She continues recording and performing and is unquestionably the leading Mariachi Music female artist of her generation. Famous for her unique and soulful voice, Yolanda is truly one of Mexico’s greatest music icons.
Al Hurricane began performing New Mexico Music at an early age. Since he formed his band in high school he has dominated the music charts of New Mexico Music, and has sold out every major venue in New Mexico.
Against all odds, and after a car accident left him blind from one eye in November 1969, he triumphantly returned to the stage with an 18-city tour of the Southwest, and recorded his chart-topping album, Canciones Del Alma.
Known as the Godfather of New Mexico Music he is the past, present, and future of popular New Mexico Music. His imprint is forever engraved in New Mexico music, and he has also left his mark through his successful presentations.
Loved and revered by his fans, he is the foremost living exponent of the New Mexico Music. After five decades of an unconditional and passionate surrender to the music of his home state, he has received countless awards and recognition.
In 2007, a Tribute was held in his honor where his peers acknowledged him as New Mexico Music’s greatest living legend.
